We're Moving to California

So, It's official! We're moving to California soon! Beak has accepted a job and will be starting immediately. It will be hard to leave good friends here, but I'm so excited to live closer to family. We'll be within an hour from Wendy...we can have Sunday Dinners together! My college kids can come home for holidays!!! It's been a miracle how everything's come together at the same time. We've been trying to sell our house for sooo long! Beak thought it would be impossible to sell a mortgage company, but he has a buyer. (Okay, he's practically giving it away, but that's so much better than having to shut down!) So....time to pack some more boxes...

Gravitational Pull

I have noticed that the gravitational pull which is keeping my body grounded to the earth has increased significantly over the past few weeks. I'm a little disturbed by this phenomon. It seems that I have gained 10 lbs. in a rather short period of time. This is what has been on my mind... I need to take it off, but the more I think about it, the more I gain. So the trick for me is to earnestly not think about it, and to earnestly get healthy. Yes, if the gravitational pull increases much more, I may not be well...and if I am not well, it will be hard to have the energy to be a good mom...and who knows...if the gravitational pull gets too intense, I just may create holes in the earth. This may not be good for the enviorment. So this is a serious matter...

On the other hand. During one of our midnight swims (which lasted until 4am), Jaylene and I discovered two important principles:

1) Fat floats. Not only that, it's hard to sink if you are so abundantly blessed. If we were in a boat that went down in the middle of the ocean, we'd be okay. In fact, if you are with me in the middle of the ocean I could keep you floating! You'd be safe with me. So until I get a little healthier, I'm a good cruise buddy. (You may be interested to know that just in case you were thinking about the next Pretty Sister's cruise.)

2) It's possible to fall asleep while floating on your back.

On a more serious note, I've been thinking about loosing weight, and I know I have to carefully go about this so that I can be healthy, and naturally keep the weight off. Eight years ago I gave up sugar. It was difficult to do, but I feel like I was blessed, and count it as no small miracle that I've been able to sustain this. That's a story of its own, and someday I'll tell you about it. When I try to diet, I just eat, and the problem becomes worse.

So my plan is to lovingly take small steps toward better health. It's okay that I'm a little heafty...I float! I love myself the way I am, and I am going to become even more healthy by drinking more water every day. If I get out for a walk, that's great. If not, no big deal. The only thing I am going to ask of myself for at least a week is to drink water...I'll start out with 12 glasses of water a day, and see how that goes. By telling you all about my healthy choice for the week, I will be accountable. I'll let you know how that goes. If you have any suggestions for me, please let me know. I'd really like your input!

In the mean time, I'll try hard not to make holes in the earth...and if you want to go on a cruise, let me know. I'm happy to help.

The Plate

I've had a lot on my mind and on my plate lately. I guess I'll talk about my plate first. Beak is trying to sell his company, and we have a buyer...we think. He's interviewed for a job that would land us in Southern California, and it would be a perfect opportunity if the compensation were correct. We've momentarily walked away, but are feeling very anxious about it. We're hoping that he'll come back and negotiate a little. If he gets this job, we'll be much closer to family. We may even be able to live down by Wendy. That would be a dream! I'll keep you posted. So tomarrow our buyers want to bring the children over to see the house. That means today I take a break from the sorting and packing, and scrub the house. I guess it's a good excuse to pull the house together. They'll have to endure my boxes.

Check Twice

I really didn't mean to do it...11:30 isn't too late is it? I learned a lesson last night. Always, always check the number at least TWICE before dialing...especially if it's 11:30 at night. "Tiwa" was at the R. home for a late night...not the Mitt R. home, but his son who lives down the street. She's only 12 and being that it was so late I thought I should call and see when I could retrieve her. I quickly looked up the number in the directory and called...Mitt answered. I totally woke him up! And to make it worse, I asked him for "Tiwa", so he knew who I was. He was a good sport...I apologized and hung up. Next time I called, I checked twice. It worked.

"Tiwa and Happy"

As Henry would say this is "Tiwa and Happy" back stage. They were wives in the play "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat".

Bravery

I get it. Before the cast party I had several friends approach me and tell me what a brave woman I am... Last night we had about 100 youthens between the grades of 6-8 in our home for a cast party. There were 60 people in the cast, so I was thinking....maybe we'd have 50 at the most. I guess those 50 people thought it was prudent to invite friends also. At one point we counted 60 out on the sport court, and there were at least that many in the house, and in the front yard...And my poor neighbors... I owe all 10 of them BIG time! The good news...Beak and I didn't have to do a song and dance number... instead daughter H talked them into a game of limbo. All in all it went well. No one got hurt, they stayed out of the pool, and nothing broke! We were up until 2am scrubbing floors, but that's okay. Today I have clean floors.

It doesn't get better than this!

Joseph

I just got back from watching my girls perform in Joseph. They were incredible! I was so proud of them. We are having the cast party here at our home Saturday...i'm a little nervous about that. I'm not sure what the party will consist of, but I'm seriously hoping Beak and I don't have to get up and do a dance & song number for everyone. Yes, it would be entertaining....and memorable. I wish we could borrow Luke and Camille.

We are progressing with the selling of our house. There's a bunch of stuff they want us to fix...it's hard to compromise when we've already compromised beyond our ability to do so. Right now we're just anxious to get rid of the house. I haven't started looking for anything else yet. I'm not sure where to look. I think that this summer we will be nomads. The house will close on the 27th, and we'll migrate west. Then if we have no solid plans we'll do a westerly trek like we did last summer...That was so fun, and it was great to see everyone.

Laundry Day

Today I did laundry. Okay, I'm lieing. I didn't do laundry, but it felt good to say it happened. We had a home inspection today. Finally, after 9 months of showing the house to every and all who wanted to see it, WE SOLD OUR HOUSE!!!...I think. Our buyers have to decide if it's still worth it to them....after flushing all the toilets, sticking their toes in the pool, looking out our windows, examining our lights, and of course checking out the refrigerator. I think they're getting an incredible deal! If they still think so then....we're on our way! Where? I'm not sure, but we'll be there in a couple of months!
